Textile waste is the beginning of Fairweather Johnson, not the end. We take the leftover scraps and fabric from production, called post-industrial waste, combining it with post consumer waste, like worn clothing and discarded textile products.
we then separate the waste by color and chop up the material into smaller pieces. This material is blended and processed to achieve the final content and color. Then it is converted to fiber.
This fiber then spun into our recycled yarn. There is no dyeing. All of this is accomplished with water consumption.
Finally the yarn is knit into the various fabrics and weights offered in our apparel collection.
